Since we put the mercury thermometer in the Greenhab, it is easier to monitor the heat. I opened the door from 0830 to 1130, and it was not really hot in the afternoon.

I did my experiment this afternoon and made some interesting observations about my radishes, I will see in the next days how it goes.

Changes to crops:
Here are the notable changes from the last week :
– One sunflower is in flower, an other one is also flowering
– The fenel planted on 15 JAN keeps growing (~ 3 cm)
– Still no sprouts from the tomatoes planted last week
– The cucumber is still very weak, almost dead
– The cress planted this week is now ~ 6 cm
– The sugar peas are still yellow, even with a bit of fertilizer
– Two lettuces are almost ready to harvest. The other are small (leafs
of ~ 2 cm)
– Microgreens and savory mix in tray almost ready to harvest

In the blue gardener :
– Basil, parsley, and sage are still abundant !
– Fenel is getting wider
– The tomatoe still has one sick branch
– Cilandro is now ~ 10 cm

Planted today :
– In a gardener : one row of Savory Mix, one row of Lettuce, and one row
of microgreens
– In a pot : chives

Narrative:
– Today I planted new crops in the greenhab : chives in a pot, and
savory mix + lettuces + microgreens in a gardener.

– I also made an inventory of the current plant in the greenhab and
their changes since last week.

– I opened the door 1 hour this morning, between 1000 and 1100.

– I put a bit of fertilizer on the tomatoe in the blue tray, and on
sugar peas.

3) 16.00 PM 24.8° C / 0 %
4) 18.30 PM 18.5° C / 25 %

Changes to crops: None.

Narrative:
This morning, we harvested some mixed green salad and radishes for Aurélien’s birthday. We also prick out the 8 radishes pots of my experiment, to allow the best radishes to grow;

In the afternoon I performed my experiment in the greenhab, placing each pot in the growtent, with UV light and specific music for 6 minutes. However, the UV lamp found in the science dome doesn’t seem to be powerfull enough, I think it won’t be good for the experiment.

Other problem we faced today : the heater thermometer is placed on the cooling fan’s metal side. When it is hot, we put on the fan, so the heater thermometer decreases a lot more than the greenhab, and its temperature reaches 15° while it’s 25° in the greenhab, so the heater turns on.
Today, both the fan and the heater were turned on, although the temperature was high (31°C). We should re-monitor the heater thermometer.

Harvest: 89 g of mixed green salad, 1 g of watercress and 35 g of radishes.

Support/supplies needed: None.

High: 29.8°C

Hours of supplemental light: 0 Hours

Daily water usage for crops: 6.4 gallons

4) 18:30 PM 21.3° C / 30 %

Changes to crops: I removed the tomatoes and prepared the soil for the
next seeds.
I harvested carrots.
Radishes are germinating.
Red lettuces have some problem growing up, and are still not red.

Narrative:
The monitoring of the fan that I made yesterday worked well today, and
helped control the heat, even if it is still really hot when the sun
shines. Maybe, in the next weeks, I will put on the cooling system.
Indeed, it appeared that for a moment the temperature increased even
with a fan at max speed.

I also discovered that the "Crew 205 ‘s mystery seeds" were… radishes
! So I pulled out some radishes from this planter to allow the biggest
ones to grow.

Radishes from my experiment have a great germination : more than 75% of
the planted seeds have germinated, with an average of 2.6 cm of height.

Harvest: 9.0 g of basil, 2.1 g of parsley, 31.4 g of radish, 2.3 g of
lemon basil

Support/supplies needed: None.
