– Generator :
We had the same problem over and over again with the generator. The battery is not charging while generator is on. At about 9:00pm, we unplugged the cable which connect the generator to the solar panel central unit, we jump started the battery and we turned the generator on. But the charge of the battery dropped and the generator had a second failure at rougthly 9:20pm. So the problem comes from the generator, not the central unit. At 8:10am, we jump started the generator again and turned it on.
At 9:10am, just before third failure, settings were :
+ Oil pressure : 47 psi
+ Speed : 1815 rpm
+ Battery charge : 6.4V
The generator had then a third failure at 9:20am.
Shannon and us agree with the idea of charging the battery during the day to run the generator during the night. Shannon brought two battery chargers at 4:35pm. We disconnected the battery from the generator and charged the battery at 4:50pm. We let the battery charge for two hours after the sunset. At 7:15pm, the charge of the battery was 60% while the SOC was 54%. We thus decided to connect the battery to the generator and it is working properly since then.

– Water shortage :
Crew aware of concern about water shortage. We use the shallow water from trailer tanks to water the plants of the GreenLab. Shannon brought an extra 100-gallon water tank to ease the water shortage. We pumped roughtly 60 gallons into the static water tank during the engineering check at 11:45am.

The generator had a failure during the night, Fault message reading "Low battery". Jump-start from Shannon’s Shuttle battery at did not solve the issue. Generator had a second failure at rougthly 12:00pm. Second jump-start done and generator turned on at 5:30pm. The generator is currently running.
At 6:20pm, settings are :
+ Oil pressure : 45 psi
+ Speed : 1815 rpm
+ Battery charge : Fluctuating between 8.7V and 9.0V
At 6:40pm, settings are :
+ Oil pressure : 45 psi
+ Speed : 1815 rpm
+ Battery charge : Fluctuating between 7.8V and 8.0V
The charge of the battery is thus plummeting. The battery of the generator is not recharged while generator is on.

– Water heater tests :
I went to the shower and did the following tests.

@8:42am first trial with nominal settings (right dial on the second top black bar) :
hot water turned on all the way for 2 minutes, initial temperature 51F, final temperature 64F.
@9:33am second trial with max temperature (right dial turned to the top black bar, but I can go further) :
hot water turned on all the way for 4 minutes, initial temperature 55F, final temperature 64F.

– Water shortage :
Crew aware of concern about water shortage. We are now using jerrycans for drinking water. We tried to pump as much water as possible from the trailer tanks into the static tank. We use the shallow water of trailer tanks to water the plants of the GreenLab.

The ventilation system stopped once again during the engineering EVA. I opened the backpack at 3:00pm and tried to find a faulty connection with the ohmmeter. All the wires are well connected. The faulty connection may thus be in the outlet itself. Still, the backpack can be charged by slightly moving the plug. The ventilation system is operational. Tomorrow, I will check the running time of the fully-charged spacesuit to test whether or not the battery is defective.
– Outer window of front airlock and central window of living area:
Windows covered with bubblewrap to insulate against cold.
– Water heater :
The water heater is plugged. The front screen displays 061 to 063. We haven’t touched anything except the plug yet.
At 8:20am, I went to the shower and turned the hot water on all the way for 1 minute but water remained cold.
In the living area, water does not flow into the sink when hot is turned on.
– Shower-head :
Shower-head leaks when turned on.

– Spacesuit 3 : The ventilation system of spacesuit N°3 (mine) stopped during the engineering EVA. Back to the EVA room at 11:36am, I plugged the backpack but the DEL of the charger was still turned off. I meticulously moved the plug of the charger and the red DEL of the charger switched on.  At 2:30pm, I turned the ventilation system on and it was working properly. There is thus a faulty connection. I will open the backpack this evening to see whether or not a wire is badly connected to the outlet of the spacesuit.
– Spacesuit 4 : Back from the EVA at 1:25pm, while undressing her spacesuit, Ilaria pulled out the right ventilation tube of her backpack. I just had to plug it back into the spacesuit.
– Hot water circuit of the sink : There is not hot water circulating in the sink.

The generator runned properly for the whole night.
Today, Shannon called a mechanic to definitely clean the oil circuit and fix the generator.
– Spacesuit 2 : After the engineering EVA at 12:40pm, we noticed that the ventilation systems of spacesuits N°2 and N°3 were not working. At 3:00pm, Thibault and I opened the backpack of spacesuit N°2 to repair the ventilation system. The backpack of spacesuit N°2 was full of dust. We removed the dust and the fans are now operationnal.
– Spacesuit 3 : At 3:20pm, Thibault and I opened the backpack of spacesuit N°3 to repair the ventilation system. The left fan in the backpack of spacesuit N°3 was blocked. We carefully unjammed the fan and cleaned it with blow-off canned air. It is now operationnal.

The heater was not working properly on Sunday, even after reseting it. Shannon adviced us to change the air filter. On Monday morning, Thibault and I removed the air filter. It had not been changed since April 2016. At 10am, Ilaria and David went to city to buy a battery for the generator and a pack of air filters. We replaced the filter at 3:00pm. The heater is now working well.
– Generator :
On Sunday, the generator had a failure at 8:00pm, Fault message reading “Low battery”. Jump-start from Shannon’s Shuttle battery did not solve the issue. Generator had a second failure at 9:00pm on sunday, so we definitely turned it off for the night.
On Monday, Shannon helped us to change the battery at 3:00pm. We then drained oil from the radiator by pouring clean cooling liquid. The oil of the generator was also very dirty. It was so sticky that we had to start the generator for a few minutes to heat the oil and thin it. We thus were able to remove the oil filter, but only a fraction of dirty oil came out of the generator. We tried to remove as much dirty oil as possible by filling the motor with clean oil, but a valve seemed to block the oil circulation. After pouring as much clean oil as we could, we replaced the oil filter. The generator was finally turned on at 5:00pm and runned properly for the whole night.
