“The Garden of MDRS”
Kai Takeda – Crew Biologist

Greenhab as a wonderful garden on Mars.

Today, more than one week in my journey in MDRS, I’ve got used to reporting my activities in the garden using radios every single day.
Crew191 ASIA TEAM stay together in the Hab, and become isolated in such as small place and can not go out without space suit.
I know that stay in the small space might be makes a bit stress but, I realize that my activities to taking care of the garden every single day reduce my sad feeling :
For example, harvesting vegetables in the garden and taking them back to the Hab for lunch or dinner.
And also, each time im back to the Hab from the garden, my crewmates say “welcomeback” to me.
This is kind of privilege of GreenHab officer.

I’ve been interested on plants since I was in junior high school.
I also interested in relationship between human and plants and try to do a research about that subject.
For me, plants could be create an open feelings for human like what I feel during stay in MDRS.
I really want to know how plants change our feeling just by having contact with them directly.
And now I have a plan to have a “PLANT DAY” with my crewmates in MDRS.
I really hope that I can make realization from this idea.
