MDRS ROBOTIC OBSERVATORY
Robotic Telescope Requested: MDRS-WF
Objects to be Imaged this Evening: NGC 281 (Pacman nebula) and maybe others.
Images submitted with this report: Orion Nebula (M41)
Problems Encountered: Just the same problems with the "Mount error" and "Camera error"; however, Peter is helping me to fix it.
IMPORTANT!!!!!!!! : Out of the entire sequence of photographs of the 5 bands, I found an anomaly in one of the photographs of the green band where 3 bright points are visible in a 3-MINUTE exposure photograph. Due to the exposure time, it doesn’t seem to be a meteor or satellites. I hope that Mission Support can assist me in delving into this and finding a possible explanation. If further information is needed on this matter, please let me know. Attached is a comparison between a photograph similar to all the others where the 3 points are not visible and the particular photo I mentioned earlier.

MDRS ROBOTIC OBSERVATORY
Robotic Telescope Requested: MDRS-WF
Objects to be Imaged this Evening: NGC6960
Images submitted with this report: Andromeda Galaxy (M31)
Problems Encountered:
– I’m unable to properly complete the photo capture due to errors such as ‘CAMERA ERROR’ and ‘MOUNT ERROR,’ resulting in very few hours of light accumulation for each target.
– I had to crop the square-format photo to the specified resolution of 800×600. In case you require the high-resolution size and format, please feel free to ask me for it.

MUSK OBSERVATORY
Sky Conditions: Partly cloudy
Wind Conditions: Medium
Observation Start Time: 12:30pm
Observation End Time: 2:30pm
Summary: Crew visual observations which identified a large prominence near 7 o’clock. Solar imaging followed.
Objects Viewed: Sun
Images Submitted With This Report: Sun 231023 Prominence
Problems Encountered: Camera was left attached to telescope at start of mission. Confusion using Sharp Cap program because software update has caused user interface to differ from Quick Guide.

Crew 279 Astronomer Report 10April2023
Dear Mr Detterline and MDRS support,

Today, I’ve also used the ZWO camera to capture the sun’s chromosphere and prominence. I think that I managed to capture more details in the sun chromosphere. However, there were no big prominences and I struggled a bit to blend the two exposures (chromosphere + prominence). Maybe I could use more time on this step.

Pictures settings :

Chromosphere : Gain=50, Exposure= 0.014, Gamma=1
Prominence : Gain= 210, Exposure=0.014, Gamma= 100
Flat : Gain=50, Exposure=0.014, Gamma=1

Concerning the green and blue frames of M51, tonight I will lunch again those to complete my observation.

I also attached a picture of my stargazing yesterday night.

Here is my report :

Solar Features Observed: Sun 230302 sunspots

Problems Encountered: My prominence capture was not very satisfying. The surrounding of the Sun was not black but very bright (Does it depend on the hour of the day ? I made this photo at about 12:00 pm). There was no prominence during my observation so that was not a problem as I did not use the prominence capture for the photo, but I would like to understand why, in order to fix the problem for the next times.
