Narrative: Today plant food was added to the watering. Also, it was noted that the soil level was low on several of the tomato plants, exposing the top of the roots. More soil was added and additional supports provided to promote vertical growth (see pictures). Finally, a cage was added to one of the bean plants to provide support (see picture).
Harvest: 9 grams of microgreens and 21 grams of carrot tops (part of effort to thin carrot plot).

Narrative: Today two notes of interest, first, one of the distressed pea plants flowered, and second a correction to a prior report, the pea plant that sprouted is actually a bean plant (and is growing vigorously, already 6” tall).

Narrative: Today the positions of the pea plants and the tomatoes were swapped in an effort to move the tomato plants closer to the heat and the pea plants further away from the heat.

Narrative: Today continued to monitor the distressed pea plants, noted that soil has dried out after reducing watering in recent days, so a soaking was applied. Newer growth at the top of the plant looks healthy, see attached photo.

Narrative: Today some thinning of the existing carrot bed was carried out, it will require additional thinning in a few days. Also of note, the bean plants are close to flowering.

Narrative: Today a small hand harvest of microgreens was carried out to provide fresh greens for crew dinner and to thin out the bed to promote further growth. In addition, the remnants of the radish bed were harvested (consisting largely of small stems), in preparation for reseeding the bed. Only limited water was applied to the pea plants as part of the plan to investigate if overwatering is the cause of the observed yellowing on the leaves.
Harvest: 1.00 oz of Microgreens, 0.55 oz of Radish stems

Further, we discussed the desired plantings for this rotation, with carrots desired for the open space between the rows of tomato plants, reseeding of the radish bed, and testing the sprout rate for prior season’s open seed packets.

-Today I spread the rest of the radish seeds (Radish French Breakfast) in the blue bin with the beans where they previously were. There are a few survivors of my harvest.
-I also spread some dill seeds in the big blue bin in the portion that I harvested from.
-Two of the beans in the single pots I planted have started to germinate and I can see them pushing out of the soil.
-One of the peas I planted in the single pots on the shelf has started to sprout.
-Today I fertilized all the plants following the instructions from Shannon.
Narrative:
-Today was my last day taking care of the greenhouse. I have greatly enjoyed watching the plants grow over the last two weeks and I hope the next crew enjoys the microgreens!
