Purpose of EVA: Testing of the Dronomy robot + Explore the surroundings of the Hab.

Narrative: After double-checking the 2 suits were fully charged, the EVA crew waited for a final confirmation from Mission Support. Once they had it, they left the hab to reach an area east of the Marble’s Ritual, quite flat and less windy, where they set up the experiment of the Dronomy robot. The testing went well and the robot responded as predicted. The data was collected but the memory was full a little earlier than predicted. Once finished with the experiment, the EVA Crew headed back to the station to drop off in the airlock the robot and the necessary instruments. They then headed back north of the station, aiming for a hill north of the Marble’s ritual. Some photos were taken and soil was collected. The crew then headed back home, tired but satisfied

Narrative: I watered the plants 2 times today as every day since the beginning of the mission. Today, Laurene accompanied me and took care of watering the crops. We harvested microgreens for today’s dinner, burgers!

Support/supplies needed: Question: Should I plant new microgreens? I did a little research and found out that microgreens can regrow after harvesting, is this the case for these ones?

Summary Title: A good start for the week

Mission Status: Nominal
Commander Report: Our crew woke up this morning at 8 am, and had a light breakfast. Later on, Paula went to the GreenHab to water up the crops and the crew continued with the troubleshooting for the EVA suits. The troubleshooting activities are progressing well and almost all the suits seem to be working now. After the crew downloaded, organized and sent some data from the visual odometry robot (Lazarus) to Dronomy. The EVAs are helping with the experiments and Dronomy is getting valuable data. Then, the crew went to the Science Dome and analyzed some more rocks collected in previous EVAs. The crew is creating a salinity map based on the EVAs carried out and the rocks analyzed up until now.
Laurene and Paula prepared lunch – an amazing lentils dish that brought me back to Spain! Thanks for that, girls.
In the afternoon, Laurene and Marta went for an EVA around the MDRS to take some more data for Dronomy and explore new areas close to the Hab. The EVA was a success! The crew walked for 7 km and arrived at the station exhausted, but the views paid off. Meanwhile, Paula and Cristina continued with the troubleshooting activities and the WoMars website and outreach.
After a tiring and stressful day, tonight is a hamburger and movie night!

Summary Title: Troubleshooting the Space Suits

Mission Status: Nominal
Sol Activity Summary: Our crew woke up at 8:00 am and while having breakfast, Cristina had her last Latency Governed Messaging session. The day started in the ScienceDome, the crew analyzed the salinity of the soil collected in previous EVAs and started creating a map that will indicate the salinity in each area surrounding the MDRS.
For the rest of the morning, the crew continued with the troubleshooting of the EVA suits following the instructions from Mission Support. After a few iterations of measuring battery voltage and swapping chargers and suits, it was clear that 3 batteries were faulty and one suit had a different issue. The crew replaced the faulty batteries and continued troubleshooting the remaining suit.
The crew had a very tasty lunch together and straight after, Marta and Laurene started preparing for their EVA. During the EVA, they tested the robot Lazarus on new challenging circuits very successfully. Meanwhile, the crew in mission control continued checking the faulty EVA suit and found that it was discharging very quickly even with a new battery.
Look ahead plan: Tomorrow the crew will continue troubleshooting, Paula will have a braided session and the EVA crew will continue testing the robot from Dronomy and collecting soil samples.
